Looking After Long hair

To keep long hair in peak condition takes time and dedication. However,if your are prepared to put some work into maintenance, long, glossy locks can look stunning. The number one enemy of long hair is heat. The tips of your hair are probably about four years old, and four years of regular treatment with hair-dryers and various electrical styling appliances may result in some damage.

Be aware that long hair is heavy on produsts needing far more shampoo and conditioner than a short bob.The ends need regular, possibly daily conditioning with a specialized conditioning oil to keep split ends at bay.One of the main problems with long hair is split ends, which can't be mended , but rather, have to be cut away.A regular trim every six weeks can be the solution.

1.Wash your hair
2.Use conditioner
3.Rinse long hair with warm or cool water.Hot water can damage your hair.
4.Invest in a top quality hairbrush with natural bristles and wide toothed comb to detangle your long hair. Comb through wet hair from roots to tips, making sure the ends are completely tangle free without pulling on the ends to make them so.

  • Using wide-toothed comb to brush out any postwashing tangles is much gentler on the shafts and less likely to cause trauma to the hair.
  • A wide paddle brush is the best brush for long hair, effectively allowing hair's natural oils to coat all the way down to the very ends.

  • Dirty brushes make dirty long hair
5.Long hair also has a tendency to become static and flyaway;remedies for this include using a serum after conditioning.

6.Make every attempt to let your long hair dry naturally, but if you must use a blow dryer, keep it on a cool setting and avoid pulling long hair while you dry it.

7.Avoid exposure to excessive sun, salt water, chlorine, sweat, or other elements.Whenever come in contact with these elements, cover your hair under hat or swim cap.

8.Your lifestyle shows health of your hair.

How to Brush your hair

Using the correct brush for your hair type can make the difference between lackluster locks and shiny , vibrant hair.Although natural bristle brushes are thought to be best, soft nylon bristles won't "grab" and tear at hair, making them a good and cheaper alternative.

When brushing your hair, no matter what your hair type is , always proceed gently and never be tempted to tug or rip.If you find that there are knots or snags in your hair, use a detangling spray or a small amount of silicone based serum.this will smooth and soften the hair making it much easier to gently comb out a tangle.

Hair brushing stimulates the blood circulation to the scalp, helping your hair benefit from extra nutrients and also evenly distributes natural oils , so spending time gently brushing can leave your hair in better condition. Those with hair prone to tangles may find that brushing the hair before washing and conditioning can help reduce knots, and brushing before bedtime can do the same.

If you are aiming for curls when styling , opt for a round barrel brush-remember, the smaller the barrel, the tighter the curl.Straight hair benefits most from a wide-toothed comb for very curly hair as these are adept at separating the curls to give definition without causing frizz.

When choosing combs and brushes, a certain amount of trail and error is to be expected before you find the right products for you,but once you find a comb or brush that suits your hair, you will probably end up keeping it for life.

Drying Hair

In our busy schedule, we don't have time to dry our hair in natural air or sunlight. So, blow drying is best option for our hair in less time with good looks.
Follow these steps for blow drying:

1.Wash your hair
2.Towel off your hair
3.Separate your hair into sections
4.Start blow drying from your toots to the end of hair
5.Keep dryer around hair , so hair doe not get burn.
6.Leave your hair little bit damp.
7.Finish with last round of cold air, so hair will shine.

The following video will give clear view about blow drying

If your hair couldn't talk, it would ask you never to blow dry it! However, letting hair dry naturally is usually not a practical option and doesn't get the best looking result for your hair. But, the more you blow-dry, the worse the condition of your hair will become. However there are several ways to pretect your hair from the worst effects of too much hot blow drying.

When you have time, keep your dryer on its coolest settings.Even though it will take longer to dry your hair , those extra few minutes could be vital to the condition of your locks.Excessive heat is a major cause of hair dryness as it takes away natural oils.

Invest in a heat protection spray, available at the drug store. These chemical products stop hair from drying out, and prevent heat related damage, such as split ends and frizz.

Let your hair dry naturally as often as you can.

Tips for Healthy Hair

Just as with any part of your body, your hair will suffer if you do not eat the right foods.Although it is a cliche, you really are what you eat.Poor nutrition will leave hair feeling brittle and undernourished.A healthy diet will help your hair to stay strong and glossy.

These are essential food which you should include in you diet:

1. Essential fatty acids

Salmon, mackerel, tuna and other oily fish are high in omega 3 fatty acids, which play an important role in strengthening skin, nails and hair.Other good sources include nuts-especially walnuts ,almonds and flaxseed oil.

2.Folic acid and B vitamins

In particular, vitamin B6 and B12 are thought to be of importnce to the condition of your hair.Luckily, they are key players in a normal healthy diet, being found in fresh fruit and vegetables.Folic acid is found in beneficial quantities in whole grain and fortified grain products, such as bread and bananas ,spinach and potatoes. As vegetarians and vegans can suffer from deficiencies in the major sources of vit B12, which is found in meat, poultry and dairy products, you may wish to consult a nutritionist about supplements.

3.Protein:

Eating fish, chicken, lean meat, eggs and soy products are critical for protein intake, which has a direct effect on the health of your hair.

4.Trace minerals
If your are unsure whether your diet is rich in trace minerals , such as magnesium and zinc, you may wish to consider a daily mineral supplement.Severe deficiencies in magnesium and zinc can lead to coarse, dry and brittle hair.If your hair doesn't suffer from these conditions , you probably have an adequately mineral-rich diet.

5.Water

Drink plenty of water , which is very good for hydration of your scalp.

After Shampooing

Step 2: After Shampooing

Shampooing causes the hair cuticles to interlock and can lead to tangles.Conditioning the hair smooths these cells, so that you can comb your hair more easily.A conditioner also gives the hair extra shine. You should always apply conditioner after swimming, because chlorine dries out the hair.

Regardless of type, most hair benefits from a conditioning rinse, leaving hair shafts smoothed and flat. Not only does this mean that combing and brushing are easier, but styling is more manageable too. There are many different sorts of conditioners available, with different degrees of effectiveness, but they all act to coat the hair for a sleeker result.A cost effective way to choose what is right for your hair is to buy trail sizes, available at drug stores or to seek hair expert advice from your hair dresser.

One of the reasons that hair always feels so wonderful after a trip to the hairdresser is that they are adept at geting rid of any excess product buildup. So once again rinsing is the key.Conditioners by their very nature, are more time consuming to get out than shampoos , so pay careful attention to ensuring you have rinsed enough. Many people make the mistake of not rinsing their hair thoroughly after conditioning .However, it is essential to remove all traces of conditioner if your hair is to remain healthy, shiny and full of body.

The active ingredients used in commercial products are known as "cationic surfactants"-chemicals that are attracted to dry and damaged hair. However, they do little more than temporarily coat the hair.Conditioners made from natural ingredients tend to be more compatible with the composition of the hair, leaving it smoother and more manageable.

1.Pour small amount of conditioner into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together.Run your hands over your hair, starting about 3-4 inches down from your scalp and working right to the ends.Never rub conditioner into your scalp or apply it to the hair near the scalp, since it could become greasy.

2.If you have long hair that is dry and damaged at the ends, apply a little extra conditioner to this area.Leave the conditioner on your hair for the length of time recommended on the bottle by manufacturer;most commercially produced conditioner work virtually instantaneously.

3.Rinse,rinse and rinse again, leaving a residue of conditioner on the hair will make it dull.Finish with a cold-water rinse.

4.Wrap your hair in a thick cotton towel and press against the hair with your hands to absorb the excess moisture.use wide-toothed comb or your fingers to remove any tangles, starting at the ends of the hair.

I have some recommendations for wide tooth comb , which we need for our hair care routine.

2.Conair Tooth Lift Comb Wide For Thich Hair (6-Pack)

3.Hair Art Wide Tooth Rake Comb (Pack of 12)

How To Wash Your Hair

Your hair should be a crowning glory. The way you wear your hair , its colour and condition all reflect a style, indicate an outlook and add up to a definitive statement about yourself.

You can not get the best from your hair if you do not have a healthy scalp. To have a healthy hair and scalp, the basic routine has some steps which we all suppose to do.

Step 1:Washing your Hair

Your hair is valuable natural fibre and to get it looking its best you should treat it with as much as care you would silk or wool.Fortunately, hair is very resilient. An average single hair can be stretched by 20 to 30 percent its notmal length- a force that would snap most textile fabrics.Wet hair needs less force to stretch it and is more vulnerable to damage. If your hair is in poor condition because of the neglect, or if it has been subjected to harsh treatment, all is not lost. With care and attention you should be able to restore its bounce and glossy sheen.

Your hair type is inherited , but learning to make the most of what you have can make a difference to the look, feel and texture of your crowning glory. There are plenty of myths surrounding the seemingly simple process of hair washing.
Does washing your hair everyday make it greasy?
Do you need to spend a fortune on shampoo?
Does a rinse of freezing water make your hair shine?
The answer to all is no, but there are a few hard and fast rules that will benefit both your hair and scalp.

Most hair products advise that two wash are essential; this simply is not true.Unless your hair is unusually dirty, normal hair reacts and cleans perfectly well with one good wash, using roughly a dollar-coin-sized amount of shampoo in the palm of your hand.Bear in mind, though, that if you live in a hard-water area , you may need more. It's good idea to rub your hands together to distribute the shampoo before applying it to your hair. That way, it is less likely that you will end up with one big lump on the top of your head that then has to be worked down through the hair.

Trichologists(Hair specialists) advise clients with thinning or troublesome hair to massage their scalp every time they shampoo, as this stimulates the scalp, increasing blood flow.Hair is made from protein keratin, and is fed by blood vessels at the roots, so increasing the flow gives hair a nutrient boost.A scalp massage is easily done by placing fingers spread apart over your head, and gently kneading the scalp for two minutes.

No matter what your hair type and no matter what shampoo you choose, the key to glossy ,clean locks is to rinse, rinse and rinse again.Even when you think that every last drop of shampoo is out, give yourself at least another couple of minutes under the shower to get rid of the very last remnants.Smooth your hair under the water flow over and over again ruffling it distrubs the hair shafts making it less likely to be sleek.

Steps:

1.To avoid tangles while shampooing , run a wide-toothed comb through your dry hair.Remove any knots from the ends , then gradually work your way up toward the roots.Once you have rid the hair of tangles, brush it to help remove any dust, dirt and dead skin cells.Brushing also increases the blood circulation of the scalp, helping to rejuvinate hair, aid new growth and redistribute the natural oils.

2.Next,presoak your hair.Apply warm water and gently draw you fingers through the hair as the water flows through it.Tug gently at the hair near to the scalp to improve circulation.

3.Pour a little shampoo into the palm of one hand and rub your hands together.Smooth your hands over your head to apply the shampoo, moving your hands from the root of your hair down toward the ends.Carefully massage the scalp with your fingers for couple of minutes.Every few seconds , run your fingers through your hair from top to bottom to make sure there are no tangles.

4.The final, all-important stage is rinsing. This is vital for healthy, shiny hair. The reason many people have dull hair is that it is covered with a thin film of shampoo residue.Even if you -think your hair is sufficiently rinsed, do it just one more time.Finish with a final rinse of cold water to refresh and invigorate the scalp , then condition your hair. There is no need to shampoo more than once, unless there is a lot of dirt or sand in your hair.

Combination Skin-This type of skin is characterised by oiliness down the nose and across the forehead and chin.Occassionally , oiliness occurs at the hairline.Other skin areas are normal or slightly dry.

Sensitive skin-Sensitive skin reacts to weather conditions, can feature redness and broken capillaries and often suffers irritated reactions to beauty products and makeup.

Problem skin-It is invariably caused by acne-flare-ups of pimples, pus-filled sore spots and blackheads that don't easily heal. These can cause facial scarring. It is often over oily.
